2024 Recap
The 52nd anniversary of the Florida State Dancesport Championships was held in Sarasota, Florida, from July 30 to August 4, 2024. Organized by Sid Pocius, the event was designed to "inspire you" and featured a lively beach party theme. Dancers competed and celebrated in the vibrant coastal setting, merging the sophistication of ballroom dance with the laid-back, festive vibe of a beach party. The event showcased an atmosphere filled with joy and excitement.

The Florida State Dancesport Championships featured a diverse array of sessions, each showcasing different dance styles and competitions. Session 1 kicked off with the "Beach Ballroom Party," featuring the inaugural Cha Cha Fin Championship, along with Pro/Am Nightclub Single & Multi-Dance events and solo performances. Session 2 focused on American Rhythm Style, with Pro/Am and Amateur competitions in both single and multi-dance events, including Rising Star and Gentlemen's Championships. Session 3 highlighted the Pro/Am Cabaret Championships and Professional Basics in Rhythm, Ballroom, Smooth, and Latin, along with Rising Star events. Session 4 shifted to American Smooth Style, offering Pro/Am and Amateur Single and Multi-Dance Championships, Solos, Showcases, and Country & Western dance events. In Session 5, participants competed in the Pro/Am Team Match, VIP Solos, and various Professional Rising Star and Open to the World Championships. Session 6 showcased International Style Ballroom events, while Session 7 focused on International Style Latin, both offering a range of Pro/Am and Amateur competitions. Session 8 brought the spotlight to VIP Solos and Open to the World Professional Championships, including Ballroom, Latin, Rhythm, and Cabaret. Finally, Session 9 concluded the event with Pre-teen, Junior, and Youth competitions, featuring single and multi-dance events, culminating in the Fordney Dance-Off.
