2024 Recap
The 27th annual Capital Dance Championships took place in Alexandria, Virginia, from August 20th to 24th, 2024. Organized by the respected team of John DePalma and Marianne Nicole, the competition drew a diverse variety of ballroom dancers eager to showcase their skills. With nearly three decades of history, the event continued to be a highlight in the dance community, offering a lively ambiance and memorable performances.

The competition unfolded across several exciting sessions, each highlighting a unique range of dance styles and levels. Session 1 opened with Night Club and Country Western, followed by Session 2's focus on American Rhythm, featuring both Bronze and Silver single and multi-dance performances. Session 3 showcased the elegance of American Smooth for Gold-level dancers and above, alongside compulsory Theater Arts and Professional Basics in both Smooth and Rhythm. Session 6 brought Solo Exhibitions and the Best of the Best Theater Arts/Cabaret to the stage, with International Latin single and multi-dances across Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels.
As the event progressed, Session 7 featured the Professional Rising Star categories in American Rhythm, International Ballroom, American Smooth, and International Latin, along with captivating Solo Exhibitions and Professional Cabaret. Session 8 added flair with dancers wearing leopard print attire for International Ballroom competitions. The event culminated in Session 9 with the Professional Open divisions in American Rhythm, International Ballroom, American Smooth, and International Latin, followed by special presentations and awards honoring top students, teachers, and studios.
